1. Content Marketing
Content marketing is a must in today’s digital marketing landscape. It’s like the Spice Girls were in the 90s. Brands realized they had to produce a steady stream of high-quality content in order to attract their audience.
We’re in for a whirlwind of pretty scary content; with many blogs posting multiple posts a day, there’s no way we’ll ever read most of what’s posted on the web. Yet, you can capitalize on this powerful content race by marketing yourself as the content mastermind. 2. CMS Experience
Since almost every business publishes content using a content management system (CMS)Noting some CMS experience on your resume is always a smart move, especially if you’re applying for a content marketing job. WordPress and Drupal are two common examples of content management systems that you might want to get your hands dirty with. Put this on your list of marketing skills and you’ll be sure to get noticed.
3. CRM Skills
Companies are also looking customer relationship management (CRM) software experts, which is an essential tool for virtually any business. CRM software makes it possible to organize and manage the various customer interactions with a company. CRM software helps bridge the gap between sales, marketing, and customer service. Enhance your arsenal of marketing weapons with tools such as:
- SEO tools. Resources to help you target relevant keywords and measure your link building efforts. Some popular tools include Google Keyword Planner, Open Site Explorer, Ahrefs and of course our own keyword tools.
- Image and design tools. Apps and software that can help you create blog images and valuable visual content to capture the attention of your audience. Popular tools include ClothPiktochart, SlideShare, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
- Messaging tools. Programs that can help you manage emails more effectively and measure open rates, clicks, and conversions for various mailing lists. A popular example would be MailChimp.

Knowing a bit of basic coding has always been valuable, but today you will get a big bonus as a marketer with a little coding skill. Engineers and coders are valuable resources, and they won’t be spared when it comes to fixing your table padding and aligning your text properly.
Proving you know at least some basic HTML and CSS skills shows that you can self-correct your own hiccups with a bit of tweaking. If you’re beyond the basics, even better!
